Sean Meade
Sean Meade is a saxophonist that is able to seamlessly find his way into a multitude of genres. Since beginning his journey on saxophone in 2004, Sean has played in symphonic bands, hip-hop bands (including Wilmington’s the Coastal Collective), jazz big band and combos, RnB bands, theater ensembles, and recently his own Jazz project, Echromatics.
Sean began his professional music career graduating from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington in 2015, under the instruction of Dr. Frank Bongiorno. After graduating, Sean began to focus on performing with the Coastal Collective, whose shows covered much of the east coast in a short period of time.
After establishing a vast and diverse performance background over the next two years, Sean received his Masters degree in 2018 from the Berklee College of Music in Valencia Spain, in Contemporary Performance under the study of saxophonist Perico Sambeat. During his time at Berklee, Sean further diversified his musical backgrounds, playing in Mediterranean ensembles, Indian fusion ensembles, horn sections for pop bands, and several other authentic and dynamic musical settings that Berklee’s melting pot of cultural influences affords its’ students.
Now, Sean focuses on progressing the original music scene throughout and around North Carolina. He is working with various schools around North Carolina, sharing his professional experience outside of the classroom with upcoming and aspiring musicians. His primary project is under the Echromatics, which offers a unique, modern blend that nods to elements of hip-hop, RnB, and funk, while still acknowledging the deep history of jazz.
