I’m excited to share my next event in Wilmington:

I’ll be performing an evening filled with tunes by the great Joe Henderson at @liveatteds ! I’ll have a great band supporting me, including @keithbutler_jr . This will be the first time I’ve gotten a chance to play with Keith since probably 2016, so I’m thrilled we could put this together.

I’ve been fortunate this year to really be aroun

I’ve been fortunate this year to really be around people that inspire me to work on my craft to a better standard - but also to have the space and time to act on that interest.

I think for the first time not in school, I’ve truly found that desire in a way that doesn’t feel like a burden, it’s something I enjoy and need to do to feel right.

I’m getting to travel and play, but also show people my best. And really feel like each day I’m a little better than I was the day before. Not playing catch up to when I played better.

Little review of my modded out @gatorcases GM-4WR case. Thanks to Jimmy Hart at @sweetwatersound for working with me over a week to figure this out (and all the years before too of course!

Important note! The Atlas power conditioner is not an industry standard half rack size. I actually had to buy longer screws and some washers/spacers to “extend” the length of the rack mount ears to fit this build. But it was fun to create my own solution, nonetheless.

Yesterday concluded the @theeaglesdare Free Concert Friday series. 13 shows, I got to mix 9 of them I believe. Learned some important skills in the process, but most importantly I got to spend 9 Fridays across 3 months (and some other playing gigs in between) and meet and interact with a great staff. Joe, Shelby, AJ, Brin, and the rest of the staff whose name I didn’t catch, yall are a top notch team!

If you’re visiting Wilmington, I highly recommend this bar - you’ll be taken care of!

The excitement of getting rid of Spotify’s ‘<‘ on the stream count is always exciting, and to do so with my debut song is even more cool. Gives me hope that the full release will have good potential with the effort I want to give it.

It’s been a long year. 😅

I won’t go into it all, but thankful for what’s happened, whats going to happen, and for the people that have had my back this year, especially the last couple months.

Here’s a list of some great things on the way:
May 15th: Playing with ¡Tumbao! for a great cause.

May 25-26: taking the weekend off to go enjoy music and time with Jess.

June 21-22: I’m back on the road with The Stranger playing two shows in Massachusetts.

Aug 8: I’m leading my band ‘The Echromatics’ for an all original set of music at the Bellamy Mansion in Wilmington.

Aug 16-17: Trio gigs with one of my Berklee roommates (FINALLY)

Jan 2025: TBA 🙂

This is a clip from the head of my tune “Retrospection,” from our show at @flatirongso . This is just the beginning, but special thanks to these musicians for helping me find my voice in this space 🙏 this particular tune is meant to kind of have old-school Braxton Cook vibes, and one day it’ll have keys and the guitar will double the melody instead (really like that texture).

Fitting everything I wanted to say into a 90 second video is tricky. I could go on forever about these, especially in person.

But, happy 2 years of having @musicmedic ‘s NeoPads! 2 years of knowing that any issues I was having with my sound weren’t coming from the instrument itself 🙂 it truly does allow me to focus on other things, which is invaluable!

And thanks @jeff.massa , you’re the man for looking at these over these two years and seeing what’s changed (and moreso what *hasn’t changed* with them over those two years).

I’m extremely fortunate to have this group of people in the city I live!

First time in a long time I’ve really dug into my tenor playing in quite some time. To my surprise, I found Joe’s sound really natural to try and fit into (maybe it’s because of how much I listen to Brecker, and Joe’s obvious impact on him? Idk🤷‍♂️ ). The way his ideas kinda fall off the groove and eventually realign, and he maintains the idea *despite* falling out is really cool to me. Just goes to show how important intent is 😅

At any rate, turns out I’m a bigger Joe fan that I originally gave credit for. It’s inspired something later 🙂

These hard goal-oriented tasks have been really helpful for me staying on track with a routine, and I’m grateful for choosing to do this project already. On to May!

May 3rd! - out everywhere

I’ll be releasing my first small compilation of music under my own name, from our show at the Flat Iron.

It took me a long time to feel comfortable doing this. The way I feel about my saxophone playing has gone through tons of ups and downs. I think what makes this even more difficult is my interest in electronic music. In that medium, everything is perfect, pristine, fairly polished. I think I carry that standard over to my jazz-centric music, and it puts a lot of strain on me and has kept me from releasing or playing my own music for a long time.

This month, I’ve been solely listening to Joe Henderson. I think through that study, I’m really hearing the essence of the music is really in not trying to polish it. The blemishes are a core component (to a degree, of course this isn’t an excuse to butcher the performance or not aim for a high level in the craft). With that essence in mind, I found I really liked the performance of these songs.

Perhaps justly, the songs I’m releasing happen to be the first two I wrote that weren’t for school. I’ll give that story for another post though.
